SPORTS AND COMMUNITY FACILITIES IN KINGS CLIFFE

Kings Cliffe Active (KCA) is for you, people of all ages in rural East Northamptonshire and nearby areas. It is a local initiative to meet the needs for sports, healthy living and community facilities not only for Kings Cliffe but also for the surrounding villages and hamlets and their communities - about 5,000 to 6,000 people. Many more people can reach leisure and sports facilities without a car or with shorter journeys.

East Northamptonshire Council leads the list of organisations which have supported and funded KCA - full list of funders. KCA thanks all those who have contributed ideas, advice and their time.

The infrastructure is there for the next phase, including indoor community facilities - so keep your ideas coming in. Can it be the base for your leisure or sports club? What indoor and outdoor facilities would you like? How can it best meet the needs of all age groups? Let us have your comments... contact us

Planting of Jubilee trees

Seven strong lads and girls from the village Underground Youth Centre provided the muscle. The silver birch trees were donated by the Kings Cliffe Gardeners' Association to mark its Silver Jubilee. Kings Cliffe Active leaders provided the forks, spades and watering cans and Andrew Howard, Chair of the Parish Council which owns the site, came along to do his share of the digging.

"This was a great example of how the many thriving community groups in Kings Cliffe for all ages can come together," said June Hakes, Chair of the Kings Cliffe Gardeners' Association.  "The youngsters from the youth centre were terrific."
